Shutter Love

On stepping into this house on our first inspection I knew with every fibre of my being,  plantation shutters should grace the windows. Over the years I've drooled at magazine shots of these beauties and longed for a house that would appreciate this type of window dressing.
Cost does play into just how many windows get the five star treatment so we thought long and hard about where to place them for maximum effect and did opt for less expensive but top notch made to measure roller blinds on some windows.
As I walk into every shuttered room, without exception I sigh Aaahhhh because I'm truly in love with my shutters. The family has been informed to say Aaahhh too.
Plus ladies let me tell you they are dead easy to keep clean. A weekly dust with a good quality duster apparatus does the job beautifully.

These pics are not fabulous because the light was being unkind and because I only use a dinky cheap as chips camera, well, I should not expect miracles!

Throwing in a pretty photo here

Above and below is my bedroom view and I appreciate this scene Every. Single. Day

You know how theraputic fluffing cushions is, well turning shutter blades is right up there with cushion fluffing and I can spend many minutes angling the blades, opening and closing the doors.
I'm serious, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

So, if you are considering installing plantation shutters, go ahead, I can highly recommend.

  1. Hi Annie.
Well I hate cushion fluffing, and blind lowering and lifting, and dusting - eeerrrggghhh.. Do you think plantation shutters come with automatic electric blade angle adjusters? I could possibly cope with them if they did.

I soooo don't fit in with your and A-M's skills and expertise in homemaking and decor.

My skills lay elsewhere - more o the destruction front actually.

  5. Hi Annie

    Love - lurrrrrrrve shutters.
I didn't get to have the money fairy to do my home when we were re-fluffing - but I went with white aero blade venetians right through out and I am in love with those at least.

I think you have taken great photos :)

    have a happy day

  7. Worth every penny and you will be so happy that you made the decision. It appears to me that your camera does a great job!

Your home looks like a bright and airy space. So different from my dark bungalow.

    Have a fun day!

  9. I love shutters and would have liked white shutters throughout my house, unfortunately hubby can't stand them so I got white venetian blinds instead, they look similar and are not as expensive.
