Colourful considerations

Black and white are my signature colours but spring and the abundance of colour is cheering to my soul. At the moment I'm obsessed with snapping these brilliant colours for blogging. I'm working on my photography skills (or lack thereof ) and having oodles of fun in the process.

Not a flower but colourful and a popular childrens treat in Australia. Buttered bread sprinkled with hundreds and thousands (confectionery). Affectionately known as Fairy Bread and served at many a birthday party. The name is thought to derive from a poem of Robert Louis Stevenson's named 'Fairy Bread'. Or so Wikipedia informs me so I hope this is correct.
Freshly made today by my darling daughter as a contribution for her friends 21st birthday tea party.
Who says we have to 'grow up' upon turning the magical 21!

Do you treat yourself to a glass of wine and cheese and bikkies while preparing the evening meal? It's nice to reward ourselves after the days adventures. I'm rather partial to an Australian Havarti or Brie cheese and a chilled Pinot Grigio

The reason I designed a large kitchen island bench...is it obvious? Messy cook, that would be me. This display is from two cakes let alone dinner. The quick mix cakes book is my cake baking bible. The pages are spotted with grease smudges etc, the pages are dog eared and it's literally falling apart. Circa 1993.
Have been looking at the front cover since 1993 and avoiding whipping up this piece of fabuliciousness. I should just Do It.

This little Ronson hand mixer is quite old now and she does not owe me a cent bless her but I am seriously considering upgrading to the queen of mixers, can you guess what model I'm interested in?
Every blogger who owns one absolutely loves theirs to bits so that's a great recommendation. Serious consideration is being given to choice of colour. Hmmm....black and white kitchen, should I play safe or strike out, live dangerously and purchase one of the bright shades to sit on the benchtop?
Suggestions appreciated.

Enjoy your Saturday night, I'm off to pour a wine and create kitchen mess.
xx

  1. Hi Miss Annie

lovely saturday journey pics! Thank you :)

I too have a vroom vroom! Well I think you mean kitchenaid. I do love it but I don't use it all the time and really I want one of those ronson hand held beater thingy's that you have. Some times you just want to be able to mix this or that without the excess washing up.
I suppose the one thing though is they last for so long and will be with me for the next 20 years.
I have a red one and it is placed in a cupboard - it is heavy to get out if you were going to do it all the time. I love the red - they are the most popular apparently but I wish I did buy the white - I just love white and when I have my white and silver kitchen I think I would like to leave it out as a feature.

well - hope that helped fill in some blanks

Off to go and check the ceiling for some slithery sounds :))

Ha ha... just joking... can you imagine me!

(ps - you have me hankering for that cheese - and that bottle and the whole round of brie would have ended up being my dinner!)

  2. Loulou ~ yes I do mean a kitchenaid and it's a big decision re the colour as it'll sit on the bench full time so I have to STAY happy with the colour choice. Thanks for this input and so glad you are thrilled with the red model. Going to keep the hand held, she's good for little tasks like icing.
First snake I spy I'll let you know :)

  3. The goddess of all mixers a Kitchen Aid.
You will love her she does an amazing job and looks good at rest.
The most difficult decision is not the purchase itself it will be deciding on the colour!

Love that sunny yellow bloom and happy birthday to darling daughter.

I personally wish I had the white over the red -I am not sure if I made my opinion clear - I waffled too much

but that's me - Miss conservative, never go out of the lines and safe.
I jut think the white will last the 20 years of trends but the other colours may come and go.

    see how you go

  5. Hostess ~ so true, a beautiful piece of machinery to admire!
it was my daughter's friend's birthday but thanks for the wishes L. My dd has enjoyed attending many 21st celebrations this year

Loulou ~ leaning towards playing safe, white is timeless and I agree, shall never date

  6. Excellent pics, my photography is hopeless.
My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw that fairy bread, it's so pretty! That's the sort of trashy food I grew up on, I am dying for a slice!
