Pinch me Now

This past week I have been dreaming of a black and white/neutral travelling palette. Last obstacle I wish to experience before heading out the hotel door for a days sight seeing, fun and games is the dilemma of being left with a riff raff of miss matched apparel and bellowing I have nothing to wear!
So..I am gathering a few pieces in my mental check list and allowing myself to feel excited about a special holiday on the near horizon. Alas I can only tease and not divulge the destination because this decision is still in the 'omg pinch me now we are actually planning to do this' phase and there's countless dots to join before I scream my news over the Internet.

A go anywhere jacket, black ballet slippers, black backpack and tiny purse for the bare essentials while partaking of the glorious sights. And because I stick purely to a neutral theme I swish up an outfit with a scarf such as this pretty Italian leopard print.

So once again our luggage will be hauled out and put into service. Believe me I am bursting to share...
all in good time.

A big thank you to the team at The Decorating Forum for featuring my blog this week...it's been fun.

But I Have Nothing To Wear...

Well yes I do have outfits to choose from for an evening of dining out and a performance in the city, however, after flicking through a Grazia magazine looking at sublime young creatures in gorgeous fashionable gear I really have the urge to vamp up my wardrobe.
Easier said than done. My conservative tastes stem from growing up in the era of all pieces matchy matchy with no mixing of patterns etc etc etc.
I suspect Conservative is in my DNA.
Conservative comes into its own when packing for trips..black, white, grey is a no brainer and I can set foot on the plane knowing the contents of my luggage will speak to each other throughout the journey. No hissy fits allowed amongst my apparel thank you.

The first two pics from the magazine caught my eye but probably more suited to hip young things who can wear towering heels. Like my daughter.
The third pic is more my DNA. Safe, predictable, neutral.
Do you ever have the urge to break out and reinvent the contents of your wardrobe?

Friends and Eating out

Today was overcast and raining and perfect for holing up in a trendy cafe with my blog friend A-M. of 'The House that A-M Built'. We solved the problems of the world and more. In fact I think we could talk underwater if pressed!
A-M's blog was one of the first I followed many moons ago and it's now a daily ritual.  How she conjures up fabulous posts every day just amazes me. Really.
The photo above shows my huge salad and that is A-M  hiding behind her sticky date pudding. Both of us are camera shy. And I wish I'd chosen the pudding too.

My day seemed to revolve around food. My husband and I went to our favourite Thai restaurant for dinner and so my warm and toasty Goat cardigan made an appearance to combat the night chill.
As I'm new to blogging and thus mastering this taking a photo of myself and the outfit I'm wearing situation, the photo below took quite a few attempts before I was happy with the result. My husband was downstairs wondering what on earth was taking me so long to get ready..
Oh just fixing my lippy dear...

Curry puffs, chicken satay, prawn red curry and coconut rice followed by deep fried ice-cream with caramel sauce. Beats me why the ice-cream never melts.

Don't you adore going out for a meal?  No dishes to wash or dishwasher to stack.
Gotta love that!
