Hello all, winter here and it's cold. The dog and I are chasing the sun around the house to warm our bones.
Thought I would share this little assignment I gave myself recently. My daughter has a huge collection of fashion magazines so I commandeered one issue of Harpers Bazaar to make a simple layout of cards for my mother's care home. Many stylish ladies of advanced years still appreciate gazing at pictures of pretty clothes and I felt some flash cards would be nice for the residents to peruse.
I enjoyed myself immensely and may do a series for the residents if I can gather more visuals of shoots which are appropriate for the mature lady. Luckily this edition contained pics which were not risque.
The effort reinvigorated a creative side of my personality I should nurture.
Unfortunately this photo would not load correctly so the models are standing on their heads which is kind of funny. Why do some iPhone photos do this I wonder? For love nor money I couldn't get those gals standing on their feet.
Anyway I hope you get the idea...
Cutting (I use a mini guillotine contraption), spacing, layout and laminating is therapeutic and not to be underestimated.
If the opportunity to be creative comes your way embrace it, for it matters not how big or small the task... just Enjoy.
Annie xx
What a lovely and generous thought, Annie. Bless you. Loving the little glimpse of you in your tiny profile pic - the next step is to make is lighter so we can see you ☺. J x
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane, the staff are always looking for new activities. Haha baby steps, I always swore I would never show myself.
DeleteHi Annie, what a lovely idea for your mother and the other ladies. It is sad to think those gorgeous images (often taken by world class photographers) are frequently forgotten or sader still, often end up in the rubbish heap.
ReplyDeleteI only just got an iphone over the weekend (I am behind the times) and worked out that if you rotate the picture (so it is upside down) and then upload it, it then uploads correctly. So sorry if that makes no sense! I am sure there are other ways to upload them correctly, however I haven't learnt them yet. Fifi xo
Hi Fifi, thanks heaps your tip does make sense and I thought I tried this on the day (but can't quite remember) as I was having all sorts of issues getting the shots to load properly. I don't blame the phone I think it's the dodgy operator!
DeleteHi Annie, What a great idea for the old ladies, and fun for you as well. I remember how the old ladies in my mother-in-laws home enjoyed having their nails painted and playing with makeup brought in by volunteers. Never too old for glamour! xo
ReplyDeleteExactly Patricia, never too old. I paint my mum's nails every week and she loves picking out a pretty colour.
DeleteOkay now I am feeling technically out of touch, can you blog from your iPhone? Let me guess there is an app I know nothing about? Please enlighten me! L xx
ReplyDeleteHi, there is a blogger app for iphone (free). It talks to the real blogger so you can see and edit previously written posts. The image loader is pretty basic, but is okay for simple posts. I have used it a couple of times just with one photo and a quick update kind of blog post.
DeleteThanks! I am off to download it now! L xx
DeleteThat's a really kind thing that you've done there Annie and sounds very satisfying too.
ReplyDeleteI had a smile to myself reading your first paragraph about chasing the sun - my old poodle used to shuffle in her sleep following the sun in the hallway!
x
I gained enormous satisfaction Beth so it was win win all round. I laughed reading how your poodle would shuffle along chasing the sun. My old girl gets out of bed, moves to the next sunny spot and stands there till I move her bed.
DeleteThanks for the above iPhone tip which would come in handy and I'll get Lotus to read your comment.
That's brilliant, and such a thoughtful idea. And if you get to unleash your creativity, so much the better.
ReplyDeleteHi Kitty, I think unleashing creativity is good for the soul.
DeleteWhat a great idea. If I were an older lady, I would love someone to do this for me. Lulu and I also chase the sun around the house. If only we could chase it around the world!
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, that's such a lovely thing to do! And it would be good therapy too. I am a failed scrapbooker and have lots of things in the cupboard still to do in that dept. You are inspiring me to do it! Mx
