So the plan was to pull weeds from my garden, instead I wandered around, camera in hand snapping pictures of pretties. I don't know about you but I really need to be in the right frame of mind to deal with weeds and today I just wasn't.
As I fluffed around, a genuine appreciation of the beautiful sunny day and my ability to enjoy my garden hit me. Spring is a wondrous season in Brisbane with bursts of colour everywhere. The rain we enjoyed yesterday has rejuvenated the foliage.
My fluffing also took me to our storage area. Now I figure if I post about my bike I'll get motivated and dust her off, pump up the tyres, drag out my cycling gear and away we go.
Don't you like her colours..grey, white, silver and black. Very Red Roses and Crystal.
Taking up cycling when my son was a teenager was a case of 'if you can't beat em join em'. The two men in my family are avid cyclists so....I got with the program!
Alas several years ago I suffered a nasty foot injury (the culprit was a humble slippery step) and with months of treatment and healing I lost my strength and confidence and invented excuses to avoid taking the plunge back to a pastime and form of exercise I relished. Fear of another injury can really stop us enjoying life.
Maybe it's spring and how this season makes feel alive and appreciative that I'm still able to push those pedals but I'm ready to jump back on the bike and give it a whirl. Come what may.
Wish me luck cause I'm a little rusty!
Annie xx
Love the photos of your garden Annie, and don't worry, doing the weeding is a bit like having to do the bookwork... it's still going to be there tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHave fun getting back into your cycling, sounds like you're an old pro!
My hubby is trying to convince me that it should be our new 'thing' when we get to QLD, I may need a little more convincing. I told him I ride horses not bikes! lol
Enjoy your week. & thanks for the Blog Love! I was very excited when I saw that. Thank you!
x Jode
Hello annie
ReplyDeleteI think we need to get you a yellow jersey ready.
Look out all those saturday coffee shops - Miss Red Roses is back in the saddle and she will be starting her own blogging / cycling club - then many a coffee to be consumed after the early morning Brisbane bike ride.
(How am I going here? Close? Good idea?)
Well you are a wonder aren't you - I love it - show me more of those little secrets in that shed
have a wonderful start to the week
and I still say - Boo to the weeds!
x Loulou
Jodi.. cycling is fun but in summer we only go out very early or late afternoon as the heat/sun is yuk. That's Qld for you!
ReplyDeleteAs for the blog love, my pleasure x
Loulou.. oh I'm glad I'm full of surprises! Ha no yellow jersey for this old duck darling. I used to gasp for a restorative coffee on a longish ride x
Nice to see your images of spring,as our seasons are opposite. Weeding does require the right frame of mind and like you I have put off weeding my patch too.
ReplyDeleteHappy cycling Annie...perhaps you'll find some beauty on your ride that you can share with us.
I like all your added "pretties" on the sidebar.
Hostess ~ I'm thrilled you noticed the sidebar pics. It's fun playing with our blogs to pretty them up don't you think! x
ReplyDeleteHi Annie,
ReplyDeleteYou go girl, I got on my bike (mine was certainly rusty) not like your gorgeous bike and just had a wonderful day riding with my children.
Oh and I love your pretty garden.
Mimi xx
Hi Annie,
ReplyDeleteYour garden must be a very special place - your little statue is very serene and lovely, and very healthy blooms too. Your pretty sidebar pics are great, and OhHH, we are twins again: I have that pretty pink Royal Albert, and the giant pink "diamond" (but not the blue one - it's a stunner).
PS thank you for contributing to my blog - thanks to you I am getting lots of hits now. So exciting :)
Mimi ~ so happy you enjoyed pedalling along with your kids, it's a great family pastime. Doesn't matter if the bike's rusty as long as those wheels keep on turning (working brakes help too)! x
ReplyDeletePatricia ~ the garden still requires a major facelift so I'm being cheeky and only posting close ups for now.
I love your blog Patricia, you are one clever lady! x
I love being out on a bike, it's such carefree feeling.
ReplyDeleteI've got about 101 ongoing problems and stresses just now that have no immediate end, everything's just become a bit much for me, but I'm going to try to get some rest this week and shake off this feeling of utter exhaustion. Onwards!
Tabs.. That's all we can do with those trying moments in life, one foot in front of the other and keep moving x
ReplyDeleteMy husband is also an avid rider and has bought me a bike and tries to encourage me to ride more. My problem though, is that when I have a project on I'm a bit like a dog with a bone, I can't let go or think of little else. I have been obsessed with my garden and finishing it before our reno begins. Perhaps this Summer I will also try to get on the saddle as from memory, it is a wonderful carefree experience.
ReplyDeleteSG .. I'm a dog with a bone too, get fixated on one particular task, yes know that feeling well. Can't wait to follow your Reno! x
ReplyDeleteAll valid excuses for avoiding gardening, i do the same. Love Posie
ReplyDeletePosie.. Hello there, I'm good at excuses too x
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and love it.
ReplyDeleteI am your new follower
Wishing you much success as you resume bike riding again. There is the old cliche "it's like riding a bike, one never forgets" bad joke!
Helen
Helen.. Thanks for commenting and following. Yes that old saying was foremost in my mind! x
