It's the start of a new week and so I will jump in boots and all and pose a question before I share snippets of my weekend.
People I'd love you to share...how and when do you allocate precious time to blog? Actually writing a blog is not my issue (I always have fodder) but of late I'm in a dilemma because I'm not commenting on my fave blogs as often as I used to. Before I commenced this caper I was a devoted commenter but (and I was warned this would happen) since starting RRC and personally following a stack more blogs which seems to come with the territory, nowadays I find while I might tune in and read the blogs I follow I don't always have time to leave a comment. Same goes for replying to the beautiful comments readers leave on RRC, in this blogs infancy I maintained I would answer all but you know, at times there just isn't enough hours in the day!
How do you share the Love?
Do you blog every day but only occasionally comment on blogs?
Do you blog only occasionally but are a devoted commenter?
Do you break the tasks up ie. sit down to thrash out your own post and leave reading and commenting on other bloggers posts till another time/day?
I fear I'm probably hopeless at time management in this regard. If I log on and attempt a post then catch up and comment on my pals blogs in the morning like I'm doing right now I find the morning disappears quickly and I'm behind for the whole day.
So many questions and so many answers. Be assured I'm not having a whinge this morning but I still regard myself as a novice at this game and helpful tips are appreciated.
Alrighty that's about as heavy as I want to get this week folks so here are a few snippets from my weekend
These faux suede boots were made for walking... maybe but I've not done much walking in them I'm afraid. One of those silly first purchases in China years ago when everything looked like a bargain and my life would never be the same again if I didn't bring these boots home.
The reason for this photo you may ask....De cluttering Mania.
Had to be done. I was drowning in a sea of shoes and clothes in the walk-in robe. A visit to the Salvos centre this week will be organised
Breakfast with a friend was delightful. We needed sustenance after scouring the sale at Daryl's store and snapping several bargains. Like cushions. Mr red roses comment..'do we really need more cushions in this house'.
Yes!
The pantry also needed a thorough clean out and re-organisation. As it's a large space, food stuffs tend to get thrown in willy nilly but I am determined to keep this area tidy now.
You read it here folks
A big project under way is the installation of insulation under the deck roof. The tin radiates heat and during a Queensland summer it's unbearable to sit here during the day so a plan was devised to counteract this. I will be posting about this installation in the near future.
This pink crystal has no relevance to the past weekend. Just thought I'd share it's prettiness. Snapped this instagram shot recently of this pretty crystal that sits on my dressing table. $10 from Target and is probably a paperweight I think?
So..please fess up and spill, I would love your thoughts on how you manage sharing your time with this blogging caper.
How do you allocate posting, reading and commenting time so that you don't place pressure on yourself to do it all...every day????
Annie xx
Hello! yes it's hard work keeping up. I blog for me, so if I can't comment on others then I don't worry too much. But I am also realistic, that when I don't comment on others then I can't expect many comments on mine either. :)
ReplyDeleteKatrina.. very true words K
ReplyDeleteKatrina sums it up pretty well. I can't find time to blog every day, but do try to leave a comment or two around the blogs.
ReplyDeleteI must be addicted though, because a day or two away and I think I might be missing out on something!
Decluttering is all the go this January, isn't it.
Patricia.. oh I understand, I've missed several days of reading and feel like I'm playing catch up
ReplyDeleteYou've written about my exact dilemma too!
ReplyDeleteI will usually try and write a couple to three blogs posts a week and tend to do so in the mornings on the laptop. Then in the evenings I'll dip in and out of blogs reading on my phone or ipad with the intention of commenting. Whenever there's any change of routine like school hols then I'm afraid I'm all over the place (including staying up way too late like now!)
I agree that it's tricky to keep up. I'm sure people who blog (as well as live a life a little) understand that it's tricky to keep up to date and comment on all posts. I try not to worry too much but I do feel guilty if someone comments on posts and I never seem to get around to replying or leaving a comment in some way.
I guess finding a routine and a reasonable time frame or time limit seems to be some solution... but I'm still working on it!
Good luck.
x
Beth.. me too, up late tonight catching up on blogs! Likewise I'm relying on my phone to read posts on the run sometimes and that's murder on my eyes. Yes it's a balancing act alright.
ReplyDeleteI used to be much better about commenting than I am these days...I have two blogs now, so time to comment is limited. When I have time, I make a point to visit my favorites and leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteBut writing posts always comes first for me where blogging is concerned.
You boots are cute, by the way. Good find!
That pantry looks pretty inviting!
ReplyDeleteI do not have enough time to comment on all the blogs that i regularly read. I blog several times a week but do not comment on each comment left on my own blog anymore as I do not have time.
I have noticed that many bloggers are posting just once a week now.
I give myself a "schedule" because if I didn't I would probably never blog, haha. I write my posts at night and schedule them to post in the morning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I read blogs and comment whenever I can find time to throughout the day. =)
ReplyDeleteI like your boots! They are cute.
Sharing a blog is great fun, which is what Toni and I do! But I can see that that may not suit some as you would have to be very like minded people, as we are after knowing each other for over 15 years. We touch base about the blog once a week. There is no pressure to comment but we usually do so on the days that we post and we only comment when the post interests us. I think you have to be true to yourself and be honest with your followers, i.e. don't comment for the sake of it. When blogging becomes stressful or a chore then I think its time for a break, life is filled with too many other demands. We had a long break over Christmas, coming back just this last Monday and it was great to be free from any commitments. Good luck and follow your gut instincts. x
ReplyDeleteLadies.. thank you one and all for your input.
ReplyDeleteThere is food for thought in every comment here and already you have helped me understand what's going to be best for me.
It's trial and error this blogging caper and a steep learning curve that's for sure!
xx
I try to write a few times a week and comment/reply when I can. I sure do notice when I'm not online for a few days, I miss out on alot!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about this as I wrote my post before.
ReplyDeleteI write a post when I feel like it/have the time. I don't pressure myself. It's supposed to be enjoyable so why stress and make it unenjoyable? I usually read blogs early in the morning as I sip my cup of tea. I don't usually comment at this time as my mind is still waking up and I am pushed for time. I'll go back later and comment. Sometimes I feel moved to comment, but find that words fail me so I just don't comment at all. If the blogger has really opened their heart, I feel that it deserves a better comment than I'm able to give at that time. Other times, I'll just leave a quick comment.
Loving the pantry!
TDM xx
Hi Annie It is such a dilemma and one I grapple with as well. I love commenting on a large number of blogs but it is a huge time-sucker and something I'm going to have to reconsider.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have done which has relieved the pressure is unsubscribing to a large number of blogs, leaving only the people I really connect with. Give it a try - you'll be amazed at how much 'lighter' you'll feel! J x
PS Thanks for becoming a Planetarian ☺.
I am terrible and live from post to post with no organization!! iPhone is helping a little and I have now devoted my bus trip home for commenting on all my fab blogs! New year resolution to write more posts at once but I know it won't happen! Keep up the good work! L xx
ReplyDeleteI've found now that I have a set afternoon which I free from work to write enough posts for at least a week (I usually post every second day at the moment). Then, I use time to read and comment on blogs as a downtime, usually first thing in the morning, or over lunch. It always seem more social to me, so I find it relaxing I guess!
ReplyDeleteit is getting harder and harder to keep up with it all! writing posts are not easy for me. taking photos is not easy for me. commenting is much easier! but there are so many great blogs and it's so hard to keep up with them all. i do the best i can which i know falls short. i hate hurting anyone's feelings but we are all human and have our limitations. i guess what i'm trying to say is that ea day i try to do my best. that's all we can do. xo janet
ReplyDeleteJanet.. thats the crunch, trying to comment every day on all blogs we follow & and it really isn't possible. This I'm discovering!
ReplyDeleteWhere great friendships have developed (through commenting) I nearly always leave a comment, often just a word or two. For other blogs I comment when I read them if I have something to say, going back later to comment never happens and just takes up more time.
ReplyDeleteThe important thing to remember is that it is through the comments that you get to know people and I have made some absolutely amazing friends in blog land and they have become fiends in my real life as well. Good luck and thank you for
visiting me xx
I'm only new to blogging but I'm already discovering that it takes SO much time! (And I'm a professional writer used to writing swathes of copy!) I've thought of giving it up after only 3 months, but the friendships that have developed out of it have been so lovely that I don't want to. Janelle McCulloch
