Listening to the world news over the last day was leaving a nasty taste in my mouth.
Uncertainty, violence, mayhem, indecision.
Today's post delivered my Christmas surprise from the young child we sponsor in Sri Lanka through World Vision. P has been part of my family's lives for six years. His simple yet beautiful greeting for Christmas reduced me to tears. Not tears of sadness, rather tears of happiness.
I've never met P but like to imagine that I will travel to Sri Lanka one day, maybe for his high school graduation! P wishes to become a teacher.
The people represented here are his family of seven. P is the one rocking the yellow pants and green shirt.
Joy.
Sometimes it's the little treasures which have the power to put a smile back on our face.

We sponsored a girl from Tibet for years until she finished college in Dharmsala. Her Christmas letters were our favourites.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to help others, I applaud your endeavour.
Happy Holidays,

ReplyDeleteOh A-Mi, that is the most precious card.... so lovingly made. We received a surprise from our little boy Sihle, who we sponsor in Swaziland... a photo of him with his new born baby sister in his arms. We have been sponsoring him since he was a little tacker 12 yrs ago. He is now the same age as my teenager and his Mum has just had another baby. He looks well and happy. It warms your heart doesn't it. I agree, World Vision is the best. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteAmen to that sentiment Annie. We sponsored a young girl in Mozambique for many years. One day she just disappeared & was not heard from again. We often talk about her & hope that she's OK. Warm Christmas wishes to you & the family.
