Issues

Hello everyone.
Well it's almost lunchtime in my neck of the woods and I've just wasted most of the morning sorting out social media stuff.
My twitter account was hacked and after some consideration I have deactivated that account. Will I return to twitter...frankly I'm not sure.
Then I needed to change passwords etc on other social media accounts and boy it is tedious. This first world social media drama has me thinking seriously just what social media I really need in my life. Over the last several months I have been contemplating which aspects of my on line life need simplifying so my rambling today is just me finally thinking out loud and I suppose this mornings effort has triggered this post. And no! I'm not caving in to the imbeciles out there, on the contrary.
Even though the dilemma I faced this morning is not the end of the world I feel rather cross how certain characters use peoples accounts to be nothing more than vexatious and annoying.

I have decided to keep posing here before I venture on holidays and use the time away to contemplate the direction I need to settle on regards my involvement in social media. One thing I do know is that above all else Instagram is the ants pants and my favourite medium.
I started a FB page to be a sister to this blog and I am feeling my way, I needed to try that medium to decide the direction Red Roses and Crystal would veer.

So on that note.....Have a lovely day friends. A little bit of  retail therapy sounds good to me right now!!

  1. Oh Annie, it's such a pain to be hacked, you poor darling. I completely understand your dilemma. I'm also deciding whether Twitter is for me. J x

  2. I'm with you Annie. Blogging and instagram are enough for me.

I don't use facebook much but I do find that non-blogging people often use facebook to follow blogs rather than google friend connect/rss feeds etc...so it may be worth keeping.

    Have a great holiday.

  3. Annie I was wondering if your twitter account had been hacked or not. The reason I'm asking you this is you were supposed to have sent me a direct message, I deleted it, I also received a supposed direct message from someone else on Saturday. I'm sorry this has happened to you.
I've had instagram on my phone for a few months now, haven't used it though.

I will still enjoy reading your blog before you take your long awaited holiday.

  4. Hiya Annie :)
Oh yes, I got that message from you on Twitter...assumed something was very wrong and deleted it. You poor girl! Some people can be so irritating. I've been having the same conversation with myself regarding social media lately. It seems that a lot of it is quite negative, as opposed to when I first started blogging and the 'community' was very positive. Not that their aren't still amazingly positive and wonderful people still around the traps, such as your good self :)) But I do agree with you that Instagram is the bomb! I love how positive and inspiring it feels. I also wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you so very much for your kindness on my post today. I agree with everything you said...literally sat there reading your comment nodding my head like a bobble-head lol!
Take care and thanks again Annie :)

  6. Thanks everyone for your messages of support.
I'm not the first and definitely will not be the last to have an account hijacked and while I could have continued with twitter with new security details I just felt I really couldn't be bothered and decided it was a good opportunity to have a break from twitter.
Social media has come along in leaps and bounds but it does have an undercurrent which we all need to take stock of occasionally.

  7. I do not Tweet and really I haven't got the time. I was on Pinterest for awhile until I found myself sitting pinning for hours every day!
I am on FB and I post on my blog and that's plenty for me.
    Nasty news getting hacked...
good luck sorting it all out.
Happy to see you are still blogging!

  8. Bummer.. I had my email account hacked last year. It was awful because people were receiving all kinds of unacceptable things.. It's taking forever to get people to change to my new address so I'm still missing emails. Instagram is fun but I just realized that ALL my photos are public unless I make it private.. Lol! Thankfully my kids help me with all these things!

  9. How interesting, I was just reading an article about how a writer at Verve.com is doing a year-long internet fast, then I came here and read your blog about you disconnecting from twitter. :) Sorry to hear about the hacking, I've never attempted twitter, instagram or pinterest....blogging and FB are enough for me! It's a lot to keep up with.

  10. I just don't get twitter. I think I like social medias that are more visual. So, love blogging and IG. Not a fan of facebook, I just lurk over there :)

  11. Oh no I'll miss you so much on Twitter. Aren't hackers and trolls the very last form of life - fancy having nothing better to do. I love Twitter myself (did you know that LOL?) and have lots of fun with Pinterest, or at least I did until my laptop took its own life. I will continue to visit you here to annoy you in future! xxx
