I Dusted off my Kayak...

...this morning and enjoyed a leisurely paddle. The last day of the Easter break was a good opportunity to bite the bullet and reconnect with a love of paddling.
Long story short...lots of distractions in the last five years or so have prevented me from getting out on the water but now that the weather is starting to cool down I felt the urge to once again revel in this pastime. Mr red roses and I have spent many fabulous days over the years drifting along, contemplating life.

Blue skies, sea air and water have figured prominently in my life.
Today's effort was a cruisy meander down an estuary, I figured the best plan was to not be silly and overdo it and I'm glad because I can feel my back muscles starting to bite. Plus I'm nearly falling asleep as I type.
I'm dead set ready for a Nana nap and it's only mid-afternoon!

My husband recently upgraded to a spiffy sea-kayak with rudder and pedals. My kayak, while perfectly fine, doesn't possess all the bells and whistles. Actually I'll never need all the fancy stuff because I'm not as adventurous as Mr red roses. Mind you I was back in the day....before children I was pretty fearless. Times change.

So anyway I gave his prized possession a little whirl before we packed up and boy, talk about luxury.
Big mistake hubs. He's been warned that when we paddle together he can use mine and I'll take the Mirage.

Sounds fair to me!

  1. Open water scares me - I wear a life-jacket taking a bath. But I can certainly see the appeal of floating along gently, taking in the sights. Looks beautiful there!

  2. Wow, Ms Annie - such bravery taking to the open waters with the paddle. Looks so beautiful out there floting on the bay. I am a scardey cat like Sulky Kitten but have a brother who built a beautiful kayak. Talented! Perfect Easter activity.

I have been thinking my next purchase should be a stand up paddle board, they look fun and I may get a workout at the same time???
I may need to stick to the calm waters too! lol
    Have a great day.
