Cars and Cake

Look who is curled up beside me as I write this quick post, quick because I'm exhausted, head achy and  dehydrated after we set about researching a new car today and initiating negotiations with a dealer. Suffice to say we returned home not much further advanced (there goes four hours of my life I'll never see again).
Annoying.
The trade-in price for our present car was woeful so onto plan B. Whatever that is?...
private sale, broker or just keep the present model until it has a gazillion kilometres on the clock and is worth absolutely nothing (actually today's sob story being spun was our car is worth a mere fraction of the  price paid six years ago). We know better.
Annoying.

Anyone would think the Pooch was the one who stood in the blazing sun and talked turkey.

All I feel capable of eating for dinner is a huge slice of Buttery Butterscotch cake.
With lashings of cream.
Pity it's all been gobbled and I'm too tired to whip up another.

Researching and buying cars is not my forte...it sends me quite delirious and I just wish to curl up like you know who!

xx

  1. Hello Annie,

Well, I am too late for the butterscotch cake..that looks delicious..

Buying a car for me has always been easy.. as i stick to the same model..
Well, lets say, I have for many years now.
I decided some years ago..that i would run this one for as long as it would drive me from A to B.. It truly is amazing how a new car, the very next day you have bought it is worth so much less.

Cuddle up and spoil yourself.. another day wont matter.

    best wishes

    1. I agree it's a wise idea to stick to the same brand when possible Val and yes it's also disheartening when as soon as you drive away in the new car it has instantly depreciated! Hope your current car keeps you travelling between A & B for many years to come.

  2. At least you are a little more informed and you can move onto plan B. We have always leased a car and did you know you can lease a second hand one? Sometimes its easier to pay for it as you go and swap it over for another at the end of the lease period. Everything is included, petrol, device rego and insurance. Know borrowing of large amounts! Just a suggestion! I would find a large slab of chocolate somewhere and have with a glass of wine and sleep on it! x

    1. The car was actually a lease for several years and we bought it out at lease end. At the time this agreement was brilliant but leasing no longer is an option for us, but yes SG I agree with you leasing is worthwhile. We'll work it out.
Unfortunately the only chocolate in the house tonight is cooking chocolate!

  3. I can tell you what not to buy...if you've been reading my blog lately!! Too funny. We were talking about cars today and you know sometimes simple is better than fancy, and pricing is not indicative of anything! Sounds like you've done your research so you will be fine. xx

    1. Oh yes I've been keeping up with your car saga and can assure you we are not considering that brand! Seems we are kind of leading parallel lives at the mo Brismod with car dilemmas. Hubs is up on the research that's for sure hence we are not going to give up our car for a pittance.
Best wishes for a happy ending re Jason's catastrophe!

  4. Wow, that Buttery Butterscotch cake looks a winner! Not like the car salesmen, who drive me to distraction too. Headache and dehydration after hours of effort - I know that feeling too. I would have eaten the cooking chocolate, myself, after such a day. I hope it works out well, it looks like you both are good at research and knowing the market. Good luck!

  5. I am still tired the day after, obviously car buying/selling is detrimental to my well-being Patricia!
Just thinking I might whip up a butterscotch cake, the beating sound is very comforting :)

  6. Not my favourite past time either Annie, as MOTH & I always come to blows. Now I just buy something & tell him after the fact, sort of like that new Jeep add. When the going gets tough, the tough eat cake.

  7. I hear you regarding coming to blows but we behaved ourselves the other day. Next car for you will be an Aston Martin, isn't that right Millie!

  8. I am sort of giggling as I read this because I am waiting for Mr M to finish work on the chook pen so we can go and look at a car.

  9. There must be something wrong with me, I loved car shopping! Although taking the boys can be a little testing!
As you know we decided on our red Jeep! We went "topless" for the first time the other day, great on a sunny day!
Good Luck with your new car search, I'm sure you'll find something soon, maybe go on a cooler day next time, it may be much more enjoyable and successful?
You can pop over and teach me how to cook beautiful cakes like that anytime!!!
    Have a great day.

  10. Good advice about car shopping in cooler weather Jode, less frayed nerves. Selling/trading in the old model is a drag!
I use a fail safe baking cookbook which helps!
